Keno Powers is one of the most potent healers and creatives I have been blessed to encounter in this lifetime. He is also one of the most profoundly humble, kind and aware individuals I’ve met walking this path of new paradigm business and “Right Livelihood.”

Keno is not only a new paradigm financial healer and planner, he is a remote and hands-on healer and the channel for healing arts that include creating feather fans and rattles created following original instructions he has been blessed with via his mentors in form and beyond that are unparalleled in both their beauty and their magic.

In this precious interview Keno shares with deep reverence the stories of how he came to be a “white man” doing sacred shamanic work in the world - and also shares the intimate and moving challenges he has overcome - both personal and financial - to arrive in the place where his own journey and gifts can now serve so many others that find their way to him.

If ever there were a person who embodies the magic of “random acts of kindness” it is this man - with his deep listening skills and thoughtful choice of words - I was moved to tears several times during this exchange and feel so blessed to have crossed paths with this enlightened bridgewalker - not “random” in the least - I am sure.

I do hope you enjoy this interview and find your way into Keno’s circles as well - I believe you will find them to be both healing, and inspiring.

With love and gratitude...

Q 1: Please tell us about yourself. What is your connection to alternative ways of knowing?

I believe I was intuitive as a young child but I don’t remember anything until I was 14 years old when I first heard “the voice” in my head. At the age of 16, I had a premonition that came true and from that point on, I paid more attention to my intuition. I quickly realized that there was a lot more to reality than what most people were acknowledging. I became interested in the mind/body connection and in healthy living. At the age of 21, I had a spiritual awakening as a result of a divine intervention that serendipitously led me to meet a psychic. It was at around this time that I had a light bulb moment to study massage therapy, which I have been practicing for over 20 years.

Q2: Tell us briefly how you found your Lost Art.

When I was in my early 20s, I was initiated as a shaman by the Spirit of a Shaman that approached me when I was visiting a friend in need. He asked me if I wanted a communion with him. I didn’t know what he meant, but out of a sense of awe and curiosity, I said yes. His spirit then enveloped me like a cocoon and I had a profound, alchemical mingling of our energies. Afterward, as the shaman spirit was preparing to leave, he made it clear that he had given me a gift: the use his voice and healing energy to work with others.

Q3: How have you integrated your innate talent and your Lost Art practice into your life? What challenges did you face in this integrative process?

I started integrating what I call, The “Shaman Spirit” work into my massage practice in small doses. My challenges were two:

  1. I was afraid to talk about my Shaman Spirit experience because it seemed so far out in left field. I was afraid of what others would think. So I only shared that experience with people I thought would be open to it. It wasn’t until about 5 years ago that I embraced the work and shared it openly with others.

  2. I struggled with the fact that not only was I not Native American, but I was white. I thought to myself: “Who am I as a white guy to think I could do this Native American work?”

  3. I’ve also felt a reluctance to call myself a psychic because I’m concerned with others might think. I have one foot planted in the alternative world and one planted in the mainstream world. I fear upsetting my connections in the mainstream world.

I also cultivated my intuition to the point where I can read energy at will. I offer intuitive readings to my massage clients as an upgrade to their session and it’s part of the Shaman Spirit work I do.

Q4: What does your Lost Art practice look like on a daily basis?

I have a private practice where I work with clients. The Shaman Spirit work is a combination of energy work, intuition and spiritual counsel. It incorporates the voice of the Shaman Spirit, the use of feathers and rattles, guided visualization and more.

Q5: What important lesson would you share with an earlier version of yourself, or to somebody who is just now exploring what a mystical path might mean to them?

Learn to trust the beat of your own drum and remember that what you’re feeling and thinking may be influenced by someone else’s energy. Learn to distinguish the two.

Q6: If there was only one thing a person could find the energy and resources to make a priority, what should it be?

To know and love thyself.

Q7: What is your favorite inspirational quote?

I don’t have a favorite, but I like this one a lot: “I never said it would be easy, I only said it would be worth it.”

Keno was born in Paris, France and lived in six different countries growing up until he was 18, when he moved to Eugene, Oregon. At the age of 21, Keno underwent three life changing events:

  1. A spiritual awakening which deepened his interest in the “unseen” world.

  2. A light-bulb moment that led him to a career as a bodyworker/healer.

  3. The realization that he was a survivor of sexual abuse which catapulted him into the

shadows of Pandora’s box and a challenging decade of healing and self-empowerment work.

Keno embraces the concept of the “Wounded Healer”. While he wouldn’t wish abuse onto anyone, he realizes that the experiences he had and the choice to heal from them has molded him into who he is now. And that’s not such a bad thing.

Keno currently lives in beautiful San Diego and is working on a new divinely inspired career as a Financial Coach. His mission is to educate and empower people with money through public speaking, one on one work and teaching classes. Keno is also in the process of writing/creating a unique workbook about money and how to manage it effectively.
